A lot has happened since Halo Infinite was released more than half a year ago. For example, the developers launched a new season of content called Lone Wolves several months ago, while a beta for campaign co-op recently went live. Unfortunately, despite these additions, fans of the series learned some sad news as it was unveiled that a longtime developer on the Halo series that had worked on Halo Infinite was moving on.

Recently, it was revealed that Nicolas Bouvier, the art director on Halo Infinite, was leaving 343 Industries. The announcement came via a tweet from the developer, who was known as Sparth on the social platform. In the message, Sparth revealed that their time at 343 Industries had come to an end. While the details surrounding their decision to leave the game studio were unclear, they appeared to be leaving their position in good spirits.

In the tweet from Sparth, they revealed that they had chosen to “pursue other opportunities outside of Microsoft and 343 Industries.” However, they pointed out that they had enjoyed their time at the company over the years. According to the former Halo developer, they hoped that the future would be bright for their former employer. In addition, Sparth thanked those at 343 Industries whom they had worked alongside for more than a decade. “You guys are and always will be amazing,” they said.

As Sparth continues his journey in the video game industry and beyond, they have already created an impressive legacy. Over the past 14 years, they worked at 343 Industries contributing to a number of projects. After joining in 2009, Sparth worked as the lead concept artist on Halo 4 and Halo 5. His performance saw him promoted to art director for the development of Halo Infinite. However, Sparth has also played about in the art of other video game series. They previously contributed to the original Assassin’s Creed, and they also were the senior concept artist for Rage at id Software.

While Sparth leaving 343 Industries is likely sad news for a number of fans of the series, they are only one of several developers that have recently left the company. For example, Jerry Hook, head of design on Halo Infinite, departed from the company to start a new video game studio called Jar of Sparks. In addition, Andrew Witts, multiplayer designer on Halo Infinite, left 343 Industries following the release of the game.

Time will tell what the future holds for both Halo Infinite and Sparth moving forward. Despite moving on from the series, the artist has left a lasting impression on the Halo franchise through their art. It will be interesting to see where their work shows up next.

Halo Infinite is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
