Halo fans, are you reading enough comic books these days? Either way, I’ve got good news for you. Marvel and 343 Industries are teaming up to bring Eric Nylund’s Halo: the Fall of Reach to the shelves of your local comic book store this September.
Featuring the talents of comic/games scribe Brian Reed (Secret Invasion, Mercenaries 2: World On Fire) and artist Felix Ruiz (Marvel Boy, Iron Man 2: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D), HALO: FALL OF REACH – BOOT CAMP tells the story of the young boy who would one day become Master Chief, and of the secrets of planet Reach. Take a look at Ruiz’s cover for the first issue.
Ruwan Jayatilleke, Marvel Senior Vice President, Development & Planning, Print, Animation and Digital Media, had this to say about the upcoming comic series:
“We’re excited to bring this gripping novel to life in graphic fiction form.”
“The Halo universe has produced some of the most compelling science fiction action epics of the century and Fall of Reach is right up there. If you’ve never experienced Halo before, this is a great place to jump on board.”
The original Halo: the Fall of Reach novel sold over a million coppies and spawned a series of sequels. Given how well the Halo universe lends itself to the comics page, not to mention the huge amount of anticipation for the upcoming Halo: Reach Xbox 360 game, this comic adaptation could end up being quite a success.
Personally, I’m looking forward to the comics. The Halo series has a pretty complicated backstory that is not always made clear in the games. BOOT CAMP may be just the thing to get me back up to speed before Reach comes out.
Ranters, have you kept up with the Halo comics? Are you looking forward to Halo: Reach?
HALO: FALL OF REACH – BOOT CAMP #1 goes on sale this September for $3.99.
