It's hard to believe that the Halo franchise is preparing to celebrate its tenth anniversary, but what isn't hard to believe is that Microsoft and the gang at 343 Industries plan to do it in style. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary was announced during this year's E3, and it is a remake of the original Xbox game that started the entire Halo phenomenon.

Microsoft announced today that those who are looking forward to celebrating the birthday of the decade-old franchise will receive a little bonus for pre-ordering Anniversary through select retailers.

The pre-order bonuses for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary seem pretty cool, and Halo fiends should enjoy both of them. The pre-order goodies in question include Master Chief's original MJOLNIR armor that can be worn by the pre-orderees' Xbox Avatar, and an exclusive skull called 'Grunt Funeral'. This exclusive skull could very well be the most entertaining game-modifier since 'Grunt Birthday Party', as it will cause a Grunt's methane tank to explode in a similar fashion to a plasma grenade.

Check out the official details for the pre-order bonuses from the official press release below.

  • Master Chief Avatar Armor — Heroes Never Die, and to honor the 10th anniversary of John 117, you will finally be able to transform your Xbox Live Avatar into the iconic hero by outfitting it with Master Chief's signature MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor.
  • “Grunt Funeral” Skull — An exclusive, game-modifying skull that changes the rules of the game for an explosively humorous experience, “Grunt Funeral” sends “Halo’s” most lowly and lovable enemy out in a blaze of glory. And plasma. And then more glory. Once the skull has been activated, every grunt’s methane tank will explode like a plasma grenade when killed. Watch out for the grunt chain reaction!

Fans of the franchise are sure to appreciate the sleek style and ensuing hilarity that each pre-order bonus brings to the table.

Look forward to reliving what many believe to be the best Halo game ever made when Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary launches on November 15th for a very reasonable $39.99.
