Halo: The Master Chief Collection development for PC is continuing to proceed productively, according to 343's latest community update. Halo: Reach continues to be popular and 343's next release, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, has grown flight testing to over 100,000 participants. With Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary's release on PC nearing, 343 decided to reveal some of its plans. Those plans include adding new features to Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary for both PC and the existing game on console.

343's plans to add new features to Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary aren't major. They're simply quality of life features and useful things to make for a better overall experience. With the game coming to PC, the classic game is worth a bit of an upgrade.

Two features are currently announced. The first is a complete overhaul of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary's customization interface, so that players can customize their Spartans with ease and style. The second feature 343 is planning is a toggle that will switch between the classic Halo: Combat Evolved sound effects and the improved versions for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. This should certainly please nostalgic Halo fans.

Elaborating on the new customization interface, 343 explains that the new feature will offer a full 3D character model viewer. This will allow players to see their multiplayer color customization options in realtime. 343 teases adding further customization options in the future, but doesn't share any other details for the moment.

343 does note that these new features are going to be coming to PC first alongside the game's launch via the Halo: The Master Chief Collection. They'll absolutely be coming to the console version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, too, but not yet. 343 says that these kinds of updates can require a lot of downloading, so it's going to be lumping a lot of bug fixes and other things together so that Xbox users only have to download it once.

For the time being, Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC remains limited to just Halo: Reach. While Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is coming along well, a lot of 343's resources are continuing to grind on post-launch support for Reach. Things the team is working on include Reach's Forge and Theater modes, improvements for input latency, and the next season (no current ETA). They hype for Halo is certain to grow all the way up to the cross-platform launch of Halo Infinite this holiday season.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available now on both PC and Xbox One.
