Player reception to Halo Infinite's multiplayer has been less than stellar. Many fans of the franchise have turned their backs on 343 Industries' latest entry, choosing to spend their time in past Halo games instead through the Master Chief Collection. Some believe there is just a lack of content in Halo Infinite's multiplayer, and that 343 has not delivered on what was supposed to be the focal point of the Halo franchise for years to come.

One way that 343 Industries may be able to liven up multiplayer is to add in the central draw of Halo 5: Guardians. Before Call of Duty took the name Warzone, Halo 5 had a Warzone mode of its own. The mode put players in expansive maps to battle it out for supremacy against multiple foes. Not only would they have to fight other players, but they also had to battle AI forces. The mode was a lot of fun, and it received praise, but 343 chose not to include it in the latest Halo. It would take a decent amount of work and might not fix some of the biggest issues that players have with Halo Infinite, but Warzone deserves to return.

The Halo 5 Warzone Mode Explained

Halo 5 Guardians Warzone

Warzone was one of a few new multiplayer modes that were added in Halo 5. It felt like a combination of fan-favorite modes like Firefight, Slayer, and Big Team Battle. It brought players to large battlefields were they would fight enemy teams and various AI entities. The mode was an all-out war in the Halo universe, and was the highlight of Halo 5.

It pitted two teams of 12 against each other on some of the largest maps in Halo history. Each match began with the teams having to clear out their base of any AI opponents. Once the bases were captured, both teams would have to capture three bases around the map and eliminate any enemy they came across. During the match, players could redeem REQs packs obtained from playing or through the in-game store, unlocking various weapons or vehicles. When a team captured the three bases on the map, the other team's core would open up and the final push would begin. The first team to destroy the other teams core or gain 1,000 Victory Points would win.

Throughout the match, Halo enemies would spawn across the battlefield in the form of powerful bosses or groups. The team that landed a killing blow would gain Victory Points, though there was also a mode of Warzone for players who did not want to deal with AI, and another for players who only wanted to fight AI.

Warzone Needs to Return in Halo Infinite

Halo 5: Guardians' Warzone was unlike any mode Halo had seen. However, Halo Infinite went back to classic multiplayer and played it very safe. Some players feel that the multiplayer is lacking modes to play, and adding Warzone could help fix that. Putting it into Halo Infinite could inject new life into the game. The game already took the campaign open-world and delivered an expansive map, so Warzone could do that with the multiplayer. If anything, 343 Industries needs to at least bring in the Warzone Firefight mode for those who want to battle AI with their friends.

It would take a decent amount of work to bring Warzone into Halo Infinite, but it can be done. The mode was a fresh experience for Halo fans, and they deserve to see it again. It is very unlikely that this will happen as 343 Industries has still not added Forge or the co-op campaign to Infinite, but it really should be added to the pipeline.

Halo Infinite is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
