With The Master Chief Collection now firmly in the rear-view mirror, fans have begun to look towards the highly anticipated shooter, Halo 5: Guardians. Outside of a recent multiplayer beta and an E3 teaser trailer showing a robed Master Chief, there hasn't been too many details to go on. Pegged as one of Microsoft's biggest releases of 2015, there's a lot of information that players still don't know about the title.
After appearing out of the blue yesterday, fans flocked to the site once Halo’s Franchise Development Director, Frank O’Connor, Tweeted about the teaser webpage – suggesting that gamers try to decipher any sort of hidden message they may stumble upon.
While the site itself holds almost no information, it does feature a few teases for an upcoming announcement. The primary focal point on this page is an image showing a bullet with the word "traitor" engraved into it. A social media hashtag set to "#HUNTtheTRUTH" is also featured and clicking on it also reveals the message, "What seems like the end, is only the beginning." Finally, the last detail to this page is a timer which looks to be counting down and ending on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 9pm EDT.
With The Master Chief Collection finally starting to work as expected after a very rocky launch, the Halo brand is in need of a morale boost. After a lot of positive press surrounding the beta, Halo 5: Guardians looks to be the shot in the arm that the franchise needs. While we don't exactly know what's coming when the timer reaches zero, a potential clue may provide some answers.
A couple of weeks ago, an image depicting Nightfall protagonist Jameson Locke looking over at Master Chief laying down at the foot of some sort of memorial surfaced. Speculation has been running rampant about what this memorial is for, with some believing it to relate to the events that took place on the planet Reach.
While we don't know for sure how this screenshot was leaked, theories suggest that it relates to a live action trailer. With this new "Hunt The Truth" site counting down to some sort of announcement, perhaps that trailer will be waiting once the clock reaches zero. Either way, fans don't have to wait too much longer.
What do you think this announcement has in store for Halo 5: Guardians? Could it be a new trailer or something more substantial?
