While enthusiastic players look to the next generation of consoles and games, Microsoft is here to remind them that its current lineup still has some new content to offer. Although Halo 5 is five years old, the game will be helping raise money to combat the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that has crippled the development of its sequel, Halo Infinite.

This is not the first time that developer 343 Industries has given back to its community. After fans eagerly (and successfully) called for a PC release of The Master Chief Collection, the Halo developer gave players a free pizza skin to thank them. Now, Microsoft and 343 will be offering cosmetics again with the "Relief and Recovery" req pack to support Halo's faithful community.

According to the Microsoft Store, the new Halo 5 pack will give customers five rare REQs that will allow players to customize their characters. The developer promised that every REQ would be permanent and have a level of "ultra-rare or better." The pack will also offer ten rare boost cards. All proceeds will go directly to the Coronavirus Relief Fund.

Microsoft and 343's contributions to the Fund are the latest contributions from video game developers looking to help. For example, Minecraft began offering free educational content due to school closures. Fans who are looking to assist in any small way from the comfort of their homes should consider picking up Halo 5 again, if not to help ailing patients worldwide, then to prepare for Infinite's release once the outbreak ends.

Halo 5 is available now exclusively on Xbox One.
