Thursday, January 13 is going to be a heartbreaking day for fans of Xbox's Halo franchise. On that day, the servers for legacy Halo games on the Xbox 360 will be shut down forever, making it impossible for fans to play the 360 versions of Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, Halo 4, Halo: Reach, and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary in online matchmaking. In light of this, some Halo fans are returning to the classic games for one last hurrah.

This includes Halo 3 fan Fishy956, who was trying to unlock the Two for One achievement before the servers were shut down. Apparently the Two for One achievement was the last one that Fishy956 needed to unlock in the game, though with it largely based on luck, it was going to be difficult for them to unlock it naturally. When loading up a game of Halo 3, Fishy956 asked their fellow players if they would help them unlock the achievement, and they obliged.

The wholesome Halo 3 clip shows Fishy956's opponents lining up so that they can blast them with a Spartan Laser. The Two for One achievement, for the uninitiated, requires Halo 3 players to get a Double Kill with a single Spartan Laser shot in a ranked Free for All playlist. Doing this achievement requires Halo 3 players to first get their hands on a Spartan Laser and then get lucky enough to get a shot on two enemies that happen to be lined up, so it's usually very difficult to unlock and it's not surprising that this was the last achievement Fishy956 needed to unlock in the game.

It's unfortunate that the Halo 3 Xbox 360 servers are being taken offline, but on the bright side, it's still possible to enjoy the game and all its associated content. While the Xbox 360 version of Halo 3 is being sunset, the game is still readily accessible through Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

And of course, there's the newest Halo game to try as well, the well-received Halo Infinite. Halo Infinite reviews have been mostly positive since launch and while there have been complaints about its cosmetics and monetization, fans otherwise have responded enthusiastically to the game and what it has to offer. Whether or not it enjoys the same longevity as Halo 3 or other classic Halo games remains to be seen, but for now Halo Infinite is the go-to destination for most franchise fans.

However, fans have years to play Halo Infinite and only a couple of days left to play Halo 3 on Xbox 360, so those interested in getting one last game or two in should make sure to do so while they still can.

Halo 3 is out now for Xbox 360.
