Fans of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection can look forward to a new map in Halo 3. The development team 343 Industries has revealed a host of updates coming in a first flight for Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

For those unfamiliar with the collection, a first flight is a type of beta that exists to test features. Coming in February, the first flight has a series of changes ranging from fixes to content. Housing many of the games from the series, the collection does include the positively reviewed third Halo game. Now it looks like 343 Industries is sprucing up some of the old content for players.

According to the community update there is a brand new map coming to Halo 3. The location is going to be from a canceled free-to-play game, Halo: Online. Since this is a first flight, 343 Industries clarifies that the list of changes could still change. With the original version having come out back in 2007, this content is releasing over a decade later. Players who know the ins and outs of the third title will have a something unique to explore.

There are other changes coming to the first flight for Halo: The Master Chief Collection too. For instance, a Custom Game Browser and Season 6 content. Fans playing on consoles like the new Xbox Series X and S will be able to experience a bunch of fixes too. 343 is adding a field of view slider along with mouse and keyboard support for these devices. Keep in mind, this special content is not available to everyone right away. If a players want to check the updates out, they will need to sign up for the Halo Insider Program and hope to be selected.

Despite a questionable launch, Halo: The Master Chief Collection has come a long way. With it pushing 4K graphics and smooth frame rates, the game is one of the ultimate ways to experience the Halo series. The new map is likely going to be a pleasant surprise for those who still enjoy competing in Halo 3. The icing is that the location is coming from an unreleased game, so it will be completely fresh for players. The extra updates coming in the first flight seem like solid improvements for the collection as well.

Though some may question the focus on bringing new content to Halo: The Master Chief Collection. With the upcoming title Halo Infinite seeing a major delay, more content for the collection could seem unnecessary. That said, the changes listed for the first flight should give fans something to do while they wait for the new entry later this year.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
