In terms of Halo, everyone's focus is on the upcoming Halo Infinite, the newest entry in the series, which we should be learning more of this month at Microsoft's Xbox Series X event and could confirm some of the rumors that have been swirling around, such as the one-shot camera similar to the PlayStation 4 God of War game.

While all that's going on, however, owners of The Master Chief Collection still have the PC release of Halo 3 look forward to, which is still currently in the testing phase. In a new update on the Halo Waypoint website, 343 Industries' community support Tyler "Postums" Davis goes into great detail about some of the updates players can look forward to, explaining some of the bugs the team has ironed out, audio issues that have been addressed, and even improved customization options for both Halo 3 and the first game.

One particularly interesting and exciting detail is that the game will technically be receiving a piece of brand new content as well in the form of a new skull. For those that need reminding, skulls are hidden collectables that unlock gameplay modifiers, like disabling the HUD or giving certain enemies twice as much health.

This new skull, called the Acrophobia skull, effectively provides the player with a jetpack, allowing them to fly around the level. This has been based on an old developer cheat that was used during development of the first Halo, as that game was originally meant to have jetpacks.

Halo Reach did have actual jetpacks and the post mentions that importing the sound effects from that game into Halo 3 could've been nice, but the inclusion of this new skull was rather late into testing so the team didn't have the time to do so.

All in all, it sounds like it's a good time to be a Halo fan at the moment, as it's believed that 343 is working on another title as well as Infinite. There's no details about this other project, as all we have to go on is a job listing that mentions a new project in the Halo universe. Another Halo Wars maybe?

As for the Halo TV show, it sounds like development has finally begun, with it aiming to begin airing next year. And it sounds like Microsoft and TV network Showtime have some high expectations for it, as more than $41 million has been spent on it thus far.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available now for PC and Xbox One.
