For those looking to get paid to watch horror films this Halloween, a finance company is offering something special for scary movie fanatics. Finance Buzz is looking for a person to watch thirteen different horror movies in a study to determine if high-budget horror films really scare people more than low-budget ones.
The study pays will pay someone $1,300 to watch all the films between the time span of October 1st and October 18th. To measure the level of fright the person feels while watching the film, the person will need to wear a Fitbit throughout watching every horror movie to monitor their heart rate. The person will also be required to rank the films on a prediction of what they think the production budgets are. Finance Buzz will also supply a $50 gift card to ensure that all rental and streamlining costs for the scary movies are covered.
Finance Buzz put together a list of thirteen low and high-budget films. The films listed are Candyman, Saw, Amityville Horror, A Quiet Place, A Quiet Place 2, Insidious, The Blair Witch Project, Sinister, Get Out, The Purge, Halloween (2018), Paranormal Activity, and Annabelle. The films seem to be mostly comprised of popular horror films that were made within the last fifteen years or so, with some older movies on the list as well. The production cost of these thirteen films varies, with some of the movies having a great amount of CGI and special effects, as well as big-budget cast members.
The study poses an interesting question, however, the results of the study could vary greatly depending on the person selected. It can be imagined that a seasoned horror fan's heart rate may not rise as much as someone who does not like horror or is scared easily. Furthermore, the study will only include one person. Nevertheless, the study is a great opportunity for someone to make a little extra money watching classic horror movies in the comfort of their home, just in time for Halloween.
In order to apply to be included in the survey, an application needs to be filled out on the Finance Buzz website by September 26th, 2021. The application is comprised only of a few short responses and yes and no questions. Applicants do need to be at least eighteen years of age to be considered for the study. Whether you gravitate towards gore, ghosts, witches, urban legends, or insane murderers, the list covers nearly every facet of the horror film.
