One of the most notorious villains is back in an all-new trailer for the upcoming film Halloween Kills. The never-ending torment of Michael Myers is one of the longest-standing franchises, including 11 films in total thus far. Fans assumed that the last installment, Halloween, perfected by director David Gordon Green, had tied up the open ends of the story completely. In other words, it seemed as though not only fans but the characters in the film series were also perceived to be done once and for all with Myers' volatile acts.

Green brought a fresh lens to the 2018 film, which broke records for its opening debut. Green’s Halloween ranked as the most successful opening debut the franchise has received since its arrival back in 1978. The 11th film brought in $76.2 million on opening weekend alone and globally went on to rank in a whopping $255 million. Yet, no matter how much fans were satisfied with the ending delivered in the last film, Green made it clear that Michael Myers' story is anything but finished when he announced that he was making not one but two more movies to contribute to the franchise.

Halloween Kills will be released first, followed by the drop of the final movie, Halloween Ends, in 2022. The new Halloween Kills trailer showcases even more blood, gore, and haunting imagery, which is hard to do with a villain and a narrative that has such a long history behind it. Based on the trailer, it looks as though the film will begin right after the events that unfolded in the last Halloween story. One of the main characters, Laurie Strode, and the audience were left under the impression that she had completely decimated and destroyed Michael Myers in a raging fire that ended up burning her house down.

The trailer shows scenes of Strode in the hospital, trying to recover from her serious burn injuries as a result of the fire. Yet, time for rest is no longer an option after Strode discovers Myers is, in fact, alive and has survived the fire. Actress Jamie Lee Curtis will be reprising her role as Laurie along with Judy Greer playing her daughter, Karen Nelson. One of the main reveals found in the trailer is that Michael Myers may be seen unmasked (finally) for the first time.

Scenes from the Halloween Kills trailer show Strode desperate for revenge and truth as she states, “I want to take his mask off and see the life in his eyes.” Strode is seeking ultimate revenge, but she may need some backup as she gets her strength back. She is able to convince all of the people of Haddonfield to rise and riot with her in order to end Michael Myers' immortal killing spree.

Halloween Kills will be in theaters and available for streaming through Peacock on October 15th, 2021.
