Halle Berry has recounted a story where she almost choked to death on the set of the 2002 James Bond movie, Die Another Day. Thankfully, Bond himself, Pierce Brosnan, was on hand to help save her.
Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon while in self-isolation, Berry explained how the scene called for her character, Jinx, to seduce Bond -- most likely during the scene where she is cutting into a piece of fruit with a knife while sharing a bed with the British agent.
She divulged how she was meant to be acting sexy in her efforts to “seduce him with a fig.” It was at that point that she would begin choking on the fruit leading Brosnan to spring into action to assist with the Heimlich Maneuver. It’s a memory that Berry referred to as being “so not sexy.” Berry remains grateful to Brosnan, who she believes may have saved her life with his quick thinking. She noted how he was there for her and will always be one of her favorite people in the world.
Die Another Day would be Brosnan’s last Bond movie before Daniel Craig took over as James Bond in 2006’s Casino Royale. Craig’s latest entry into the Bond franchise, No Time to Die, was originally scheduled to release in April but has been delayed to November due to the coronavirus pandemic.
