Dog petting is very serious business within the gaming world with a Twitter account even dedicated to measuring a game's animal petting functionality. With even unreleased games embracing dog petting, now the onus is on players to utilize the ability. Unfortunately it seems that in Supergiant Games' recently released Hades, its good boys are being ignored.

The Can You Pet The Dog Twitter account shared an interesting finding through Steam achievements with regards to Hades player's behavior. As expected, the Twitter account was only focused on one thing, that being the achievement for petting Cerberus 10 times.

Based on the tweet by Can You Pet The Dog, it seems just over 12 percent of players have gained what is a very easy achievement. Cerberus is always there to welcome Zagreus back after each unsuccessful escape attempt. With Hades being a game where death is inevitable, players will always have the chance to give the dog a good petting.

While this news of Hades player's utter disregard for the adorable three-headed guardian is unfortunate, there is a way to set things right with humankind's virtual four-legged friends. Petting the dog is so crucial that Humble Bundle is even getting in on the hot topic. The Humble "Can You Pet The Dog" Bundle provides a selection of games certified for providing some good scratches to good boys.

While the stats on dog petting in Hades are sadly low, Can You Pet The Dog took the chance to remind every player out there to show affection to animals everywhere, be they virtual or real. Developers have finally started to listen to the calls for dog petting, now it is up to the players to take the chance.

Hades is available now for PC and Switch.
