Even with many conventions canceled, the cosplay community is still going on strong. This is especially true for the cosplay community surrounding Supergiant Games' Hades, with many taking up the appearances of Greek gods, shades, and monsters alike.
With cosplay being very popular on Tiktok, many Hades fans have taken to showing off their looks on the app. There are many impressive looks created by this hard working community out there, but a user known as thespcosplay has stolen the show with his cosplay as the god of sleep, Hypnos.
The 29 year old cosplayer has created other fantastic looks, such as Angel Dust from Hazbin Hotel and Jaskier from the Witcher. His recent look as Hypnos, however, has him completely decked out in body paint and contouring in order to gain the appearance of this sleepy god. Below is his initial test of the cosplay posted on his Twitter.
Since the initial test, thespcosplay has gone on to make multiple humorous videos on Tiktok starring the god of sleep. Many of these play on Hypnos' usual terrible advice that he gives Zagreus after coming out of the River Styx and other comedic audios. In addition to the normal Hypnos look, thespcosplay additionally made a Christmas variant for Hypnos back during the holiday season.
Considering how long it must take for all of the body paint to be put on, the amount of contouring that's done after the body paint, and the number of parts to the cosplay itself, it's clear this creation took a lot of effort from thespcosplay in order to complete. This effort made a wonderful cosplay that really took Hypnos out of Hades and into the real world.
When the world is no longer stuck in a deadly pandemic, conventions will be able to open up again. Once that happens, it's likely that even more impressive Hades cosplayers like thespcosplay will be coming out of the woodwork. There are many characters in Hades with beautiful designs that have the potential to translate very well onto cosplayers in the real world. The only issue for some might be the sheer amount of work involved for certain characters.
