Of the many exciting releases to have come out in 2020, Hades is a title that many were not expecting to blow up as much as it did. With complex and addicting gameplay mechanics, ever-changing dialogue across a multitude of memorable characters, and fantastic art direction, Hades is one of the most popular games to have released this year. Now, that popularity has extended to the one of the least likely places.

Some would argue that the setting of Hades is one of the key components that contributes to the game's overall success. Greek mythology has always been a popular subject in the world of fiction, and while some major Greek gods are still missing from Hades, the humanized characterizations of all of these key figures from Greek mythology are very fun to experience and have caught the attention of many of the game's players.

Not everyone who plays Hades will be aware of the various facets of Greek mythology that are populated throughout the game, so to balance this, Twitter user deejay but festive set up a miniature book display filled with books relating to Greek mythology. The sign posted above the display specifically recommends it to those that enjoy playing Hades. This book display also caught the attention of Supergiant Games, the studio that developed Hades.

The books included on the display are a selection of eight different books that greatly relate to Greek mythology and should hopefully help ease Hades fans into understanding some of the finer details involved within the game's world. Though, the Twitter user did regret not including the Percy Jackson series on the display, but admittedly, the display itself is quite small as it is.

It's nice that a game like Hades is so deeply rooted in such old literature. In a way, it encourages and incentivizes players to want to learn more about the world of the game outside of the game itself, and for many, these books would be a great place to start. If DLC for this game ever releases, it would be nice to see other figures from Greek mythology included in Hades DLC.

It will be interesting to see what the future has in store for this game. It's clear that a lot of people love this game, so much so that it was nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2020. Hopefully, fans of the game continue to dig deeper into Greek mythology and maybe find greater stories to experience outside of what has already been presented in Hades.

Hades is available now for Nintendo Switch and PC.
