Blending the roguelite, FPS, and RPG genres, Gunfire Reborn puts players in control of adorable anthropomorphic heroes. It lets them battle enemies, collect weapons, and power up their abilities through a series of procedurally-generated levels. Though the game may look simple at first glance, there's plenty of depth when it comes to builds and strategies for players to use.

With the ability to conjure flames and meteors from thin air, Li the fox is a powerful character. Because she lacks high shields and health to keep her standing, however, she is more reliant than other characters on finding ways to maximize damage and kill enemies before they can kill her. Here's everything the player needs to know about how to get started playing Li.

Li Basics

Gunfire Reborn - Li

Just because its characters are cartoony doesn't mean Gunfire Reborn is an FPS for kids. There's a lot of depth here, as Li demonstrates. Li the fox has average, Speed but lower Health and Shield than most characters. This, combined with her high damage potential, makes her a bit of a glass cannon, capable of wreaking havoc as long as she's kept on her feet. It's her abilities that allow her to stand out, however.

Abilities

Li's E ability, Spiritual Flame, creates a shockwave that deals 525 damage to enemies. For every energy (up to 60) that this power consumes, Spiritual Flame's damage is boosted by 2%. Consuming 30 energy doubles the ability's damage and AoE. Killing enemies with fire damage restores 2 energy, and the character regenerates 2% energy per second automatically. Li's Q ability, Blazing Meteor, deals 900 fire damage and allows Li to recover 2 energy for every enemy struck by this ability.

Ascensions

Great roguelites give players options, and Li has several good ones when it comes to Ascensions. Firefox Blessing only applies after Spiritual Flame has evolved. It then deals additional damage (up to 100%) and allows the ability to evolve a second time, at 60 energy, boosting damage, expanding the AoE, and leaving a burning trail in its wake.

Energetic Spirit increases Li's maximum energy as well as energy recovery speed. This effect is particularly good for E builds, but even if the player is running a Q build it will still be useful. Energy recovery can sometimes feel sluggish for Li, and this ascension solves that. Furious Flame deals additional fire damage and further buffs damage by 33% against shields and armor, allowing Li to cut through enemy tanks quickly.

Weapons

When it comes to weapons, the Crimson Firescale is one of Li's best. It's great against standard enemies as well as bosses, dishing out huge amounts of fire damage. Demon Lore has higher DPS potential than any other weapon in the game, with damage that increases with every critical hit that the character gets before reloading.

The last recommended weapon when playing Li is the Cloudweaver. It synergizes extremely well with Li's abilities, which should be spammed as often as possible.

Scrolls & Blessings

The Spirit Bible is an excellent scroll for its skill damage buff, and Flame Shard is great for its buff to fire damage which plays to Li's strengths. Against the Flow allows the player to regain ammunition whenever damaging enemies, which allows the player to ignore reloading and spam abilities, keeping constant pressure on the enemy. For this reason, Against the Flow is always worth searching for. One of the most important tips for playing Li is to build skill damage as much as possible, since skill damage is what will allow the fox to put enemies down quickly thus ensuring this fragile character survives.

The Blazing Meteor blessing is great, but Flame Dance and Raging Inferno are arguably better because of the way in which they increase Li's DPS. Raging Inferno allows Li to recover energy simply by moving. Although the character will lose stacks if they miss their strike, Raging Inferno allows the player to decimate enemies if the player can land their hits consistently. Stay on the move, concentrate on dealing as much damage as possible (and gathering power-ups that facilitate that strategy), and blow enemies away with Li's aggressive firepower.

Gunfire Reborn is available now for PC, iOS, Android, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
