A new Gundam attraction is coming to Fukuoka’s LaLaport Fukuoka shopping center. GUNDAM PARK, which will consist of Gundam-themed stores and activities, is set to open in April 2022.

The shopping center is currently home to the life-size RX-93ff Nu Gundam statue from Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack. The GUNDAM PARK attraction will consist of three stores; GUNDAM SIDE-F FUKUOKA, VS PARK WITH G, and NAMCO.

The GUNDAM SIDE-F FUKUOKA store will have a dedicated Gunpla construction area and a wall of monitors measuring 10 meters wide by 6 meters high. It will be designed to resemble the inside of a space colony, and will also host various Gundam-themed events.

The VS PARK WITH G store will serve as a sports entertainment facility and feature various attractions similar to what one would see on a Japanese variety TV show. The facility will have Gundam-themed versions of different games, such as the running game, “Nigekiru” and the dodging game, “Yokekiru”.

The NAMCO store will be an amusement facility aimed towards customers of all ages. The facility will feature various arcade cabinets, crane machines, limited edition prizes and capsule toys.

A live-action movie presumed to take place in the Universal Century timeline is currently in the works, and is being produced by Netflix and Legendary Pictures. Some concept art teasing a live-action version of the iconic RX-78-2 model was revealed in November.

The most recent Gundam anime project, a film trilogy adapting Yoshiyuki Tomino’s Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash light novel, was released in Japan on June 11, 2021 and made available to stream on Netflix on July 1. Sunrise is animating the film series, with Shūkō Murase (Gangsta, Ergo Proxy) directing and Yasuyuki Muto (Afro Samurai, Persona -trinity soul-) handling the series composition. The second entry in the trilogy, Sun of Bright, has no release window as of now.
