Square Enix Announces 360 Exclusive Third Person Shooter 'Gun Loco'

Well, I have heard of Square Enix making RPGs about guns and shooting things to pieces and looking in corners for treasure chests while fighting insane amounts of battles and loving your life because you die and restart four years ago when you were still young and just starting the game. *deep breath* However, I sure haven't heard of something like their new project: Gun Loco. This time around, Square Enix is making a third person shooter and they are confident enough in their project's ingenuity that they are saying it shall "redefine" the run and gun.

They plan to do this with a system that includes running and jumping, ducking and vaulting your way across the environment while you are fighting your opponents. It sounds a lot like the up and coming game Brink, from this first description.

Plot-wise though... well, read for yourself:

At the farthest reaches of the solar system, a collection of the craziest criminals in the universe are incarcerated on a remote prison planet with no walls and forgotten by society. In this long-abandoned world, the only rule is anarchy, as each faction fights in a bloodthirsty race for survival, power and freedom. Through several seven climate zones and numerous stylized maps, players must fight through the ruins of the world’s previous civilizations, taking on each region’s inmates in a frantic and frenetic struggle to survive."

Square says there will be a variety of interesting characters that you'll play as, as well as a unique and powerful arsenal and different ways to use the environment to your advantage. Not only this, but each character also has their own finishing move and a take-down that will mock and strip your opponent of their pride, and we all know that that is the best way to spend your time in a shooting game.

Pique your interest, Ranters?

Gun Loco will be available in 2011 exclusively on the Xbox 360.
