Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock Pre-Order Bonuses at GameStop and Amazon

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock Pre-order

The stage is set, the players have all come together, and the weapons have been chosen. Now all that remains for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is building a steady growth of anticipation before the game’s release. Just this past week the full setlist was revealed for all to see, leaving much of the game already predetermined in the mind of the console rocker. Now this built up anticipation needs to be transformed into something of monetary value, and what better way to do so than with some pre-order bonuses from GameStop and Amazon.

Pre-ordering the game over at Amazon nets you a set of wings to be attached to the customizable guitar that ships with the game, while a GameStop pre-order provides player the added comfort of a My Chemical Romance guitar strap. Neither of these bonuses are anything too revolutionary compared to the types of awesome treats we have been seeing in the past months, but these will surely boost sales ahead of time.

With the new Soundgarden album already being touted as the first ever pre-release of an album on a music game, what may have previously felt like some cool swag now seems more like an afterthought. Sure, there will be some My Chemical Romance fans who pre-ordered the game before returning to this paragraph, but for the vast majority of Guitar Hero players there isn’t much motivation here.

Guitar Hero has been playing second fiddle to Rock Band ever since the latter was released, and with the inclusion of the new Pro Mode in Rock Band 3, Guitar Hero is just a small speck in the distance. Warriors of Rock is trying to separate itself from Rock Band with more storyline heavy content, but it’s too little too late for the franchise. Get yourself a strap or some plastic wings if you like, but if you are on a limited budget, save your money for Rock Band.

Are you like me and feel that nothing can be done to resurrect this dying franchise, or were these pre-order bonuses just the icing on an already delicious cake? Let us know in the comments below.

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock releases September 24th on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii.
