ARC System Works has dropped a new trailer setting the scene for its much anticipated fighting game release. Guilty Gear Strive's newest story trailer is continuing the plot of the cult classic fighting game with some beautiful visuals, and a host of star-studded voice actors portraying the game's myriad characters.

While Guilty Gear Strive has had a bumpy path to launch, this trailer further details the game's striking animated style and bombastic combat, as well as laying down the overtures for a high-stakes story that will see battles across the world. Guilty Gear Strive is pulling no punches when it comes to how wild the story can get, mixing political drama with wild match-ups as new characters Giovanna and Nagoriyuki duke it out in the halls of the White House.

The game's ambitious design has perhaps been its downfall in recent times, as Guilty Gear Strive has been delayed twice due to COVID-19. With the release date soon approaching, it seems ARC System Works is doing its best to get hype for the long-awaited game up to a fever pitch after the end of the last Guilty Gear Strive Beta window on the 16th May.

It wouldn't do for a fighting game story to miss out on the combat, something the trailer isn't remiss for. Clashes between characters old and new punctuate the trailer's story beats, with dialogues setting up a return of a long-term Guilty Gear villain.

Keen-eared viewers of the English dub will pick out a few prestigious voice actors in the cast, like Matthew Mercer (Attack on Titan, Overwatch) and Tara Platt (Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Naruto Shippuden). Guilty Gear purists can still opt for the Japanese dub of the game if they prefer. Guilty Gear Strive boasts many distinct characters, so it's exciting to see tried-and-true names on the voice acting team bringing these characters to life.

Guilty Gear is just one of many series helmed by ARC System Works, a studio well-beloved for their broad fighting game roster which includes titles like Dragonball FighterZ and BlazBlue: Central Fiction. The addition of Guilty Gear Strive marks the seventh title in the mainline series, which has been a fighting game staple since 1998's original Guilty Gear.

The animated battle scenes ultimately won't be the focus of the game, though they do provide some flashy filler to set the scene before the gameplay. Guilty Gear has always employed over the top, fast-paced battles (with a few exceptions like the hulking Potemkin) both in and out of cutscenes, riffing on the series' heavily anime-inspired roots. The story is just one of a myriad of Guilty Gear Strive modes that will be available at launch.

Guilty Gear: Strive is releasing June 11 for PC, PS4, and PS5.
