The stylish Guilty Gear franchise has had to delay its next entry, Guilty Gear -Strive-, until 2021 due to the coronavirus hampering production, but that hasn't stopped developer Arc System Works from showing the game off.

Arc System Works is dialed in when it comes to fighting games, churning out some gorgeous-looking fighters. Filled with deep characters who chain together flashy moves, Arc games are respected not just for solid mechanics, but also their trademark anime style. The company doesn't shy away from working on popular franchises either. The company's 2018 release, Dragon Ball FighterZ, just passed a significant sales milestone, showing that fans really gravitate to its games.

This is why a fresh gameplay trailer for Guilty Gear -Strive- featuring Millia and Zato draws fans' attention. The first new Guilty Gear game since the Xrd series, which ended with Xrd Revelator 2nd in 2017, has a lot to live up to. In this peek at Strive, what is evident is that Arc System Works is further refining its cel-shaded character graphics, with fluid animations and even more polish than the Xrd series. The moveset from both Millia and Zato showcase some impressive combos, and a lightning quick air dash for Millia really stands out.

Footage of Guilty Gear -Strive- has been enticing fans for a while now, showing off some mainstay characters for the franchise. But this latest trailer really shows off what gameplay will feel like, despite the game still being a ways off.

While work continues on Strive, Arc System Works is busy supporting another of its franchises, with Granblue Fantasy: Versus set to receive new content throughout the summer and into the fall. Not as high profile as Guilty Gear, but still a very popular franchise in its own right.

Guilty Gear -Strive- will be released on PS4 in early 2021.
