As the latest installment of a fighting game franchise over two decades old, Guilty Gear Strive is aiming to be more than just another entry in the long-running series. With an ever-closer release date, this game appears to be not just a next step forward, but an artful giant leap in nearly every facet imaginable.

Premiering the Game Modes Trailer on YouTube, viewers are treated to nearly 6 minutes of gameplay footage and critical analysis of all the different modes and styles of play available to potential gamers. Guilty Gear Strive proudly touts 3 different ways players can enjoy the game, ranging from in-depth single-player content, multiplayer matches, and those who want to take in the story and rich lore of expansive and persistent Guilty Gear universe.

The different modes and features in the game are undeniably impressive, featuring a tutorial mode that lets a player replicate potential mid-match situations, PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 crossplay, an online lobby with retro-inspired fully customizable avatars, a full glossary and collection of in-game lore, and much more.

First debuting in 1998 on the original PlayStation, Guilty Gear had the unfair fight of standing out during a time when other previously established and wildly popular fighting games had dominated the hearts and minds of gamers. Despite the uphill battle and the occasional social media misstep, it is clear that the love of this franchise that Arc System Works has is endless.

It will be interesting to see if fans both old and new join in on the fantastic futuristic combat in what is shaping up to the grandest Guilty Gear game to date.

Guilty Gear Strive will release for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on April 9, 2021.
