One of the most anticipated projects in the entire gaming industry, Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding, is one we know almost nothing about. With the likes of Guillermo del Toro, Mads Mikkelsen, and Norman Reedus on board for Kojima Productions' latest work, hype levels for the action-adventure game are at an all-time high, but it seems that even del Toro himself doesn't quite know what to expect from the title.

In a recent interview with IGN regarding Kojima's latest game, filmmaker Guillermo del Toro spoke briefly about what it has been like to work with the acclaimed developer, and about the Death Stranding gameplay that he is still yet to see.

"It's been great as a friendship, and it's been great as a learning experience. In Death Stranding I'm just a puppet. I don't know what he's gonna make me do. He's supposedly going to show me the gameplay at some point in the next couple of weeks."

Having been featured in one of the more recent trailers for the beautiful but confusing title, Guillermo del Toro's appearance has likely led to the man being questioned on Kojima's every move, but it seems that the secrets of Death Stranding remain locked away with the title's development team. The actors featured in the game are brought in when needed for some impressively-detailed motion capture sessions, but it seems that they're not privy to the gameplay details just yet.

Having previously worked with Hideo Kojima in the creation of P.T., the playable teaser for what would have eventually become Silent Hills, del Toro also talked about his past with the former Vice President of Konami Digital Entertainment.

"My most rewarding experience was to know him and help him realize P.T., which never happened on Silent Hills," Guillermo del Toro stated, before speaking on his other work in the game industry. The filmmaker once worked on a game at THQ which was set to be titled Insane. Although the project never saw the light of day, del Toro commented that the efforts were "a very good learning experience" which helped define where the man eventually landed in the world of game-production.

With Hideo Kojima set to reveal actual game footage to del Toro soon, it's exciting to know that Death Stranding has progressed to a playable stage, and it can't be too much longer before we get to see the title in action for ourselves. Earlier this year, President of Sony Interactive Entertainment America Shawn Layden admitted to having played Death Stranding and confirmed that the game is progressing nicely, leaving fans to wonder just how complete the title is now, five months down the line.

Death Stranding is currently in development for PS4.
