Earlier this month, the Guerrilla Collective was announced as a digital independent game showcase taking place in June. Over 20 developers and publishers were revealed for the event including Rebellion Developments (Sniper Elite, Zombie Army) and ZA/UM (Disco Elysium), and now 14 more companies have been added including SEGA of America.

The addition of these new studios was announced on Thursday and promoted by entertainment news sites such as Gematsu. Among the companies joining the showcase alongside SEGA are Batterystaple Games (20XX, 30XX); Kitfox Games (Boyfriend DungeonDwarf Fortress); Nightfive Studios (System Shock, Turok); and Serenity Forge (Neversong, Cyanide & Happiness — Freakpocalypse).

Produced by Media Indie Exchange (MIX) and Kinda Funny, the Guerrilla Collective will be live-streamed on Twitch between June 6 and 8, 2020 with host Greg Miller as an "unprecedented coalition of studios, publishers, and media" with "exciting news and reveals" according to its initial announcement from MIX. It joins a number of other digital-only events that have been announced since the coronavirus pandemic began to affect real-live events such as E3, including the Wholesome Direct from May 26.

While events like the Guerrilla Collective and Wholesome Direct focus primarily on indie games, others that have been started in the wake of the pandemic such as Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest are filling the void for larger reveals as well. One of the biggest new announcements to come out of Summer Game Fest so far is Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5, which will be able to help develop games for the Nintendo Switch as well as upcoming next-generation consoles; Sony's PlayStation 5 and Microsoft's Xbox Series X.

Other traditionally live events have also begun to pivot into digital showcases in accordance with social distancing guidelines and large public gathering bans. For instance, the postponed Game Developers Conference meant to be held in March has instead become a digital-only GDC Summer event coming in August.

The push to keep game showcases alive has been an undertaking all over the world. Brazil's Independent Games (BIG) Festival will host a free event in late June, which should coincide with the Guerrilla Collective well and give video game fans plenty of fun, interesting reveals in the world of indies to look forward to.

Guerrilla Collective will be hosted over Twitch between June 6 and June 8, 2020.
