Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the upcoming third film in the very popular Guardians of the Galaxy franchise based on the Marvel comic book characters of the same name. Not much is known about the film, but Seth Green, who plays Howard The Duck, has said that the film will follow Zoe Saldana's Gamora and Karen Gillan's Nebula.

The two sisters were both raised by the mad titan Thanos, who trained them to become the ultimate killers. Nebula was introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy as already having resentment toward Thanos and Gamora because the two sisters had spar sessions where Nebula lost every time, which resulted in Thanos replacing Nebula's body parts with a mechanical part in order to "improve" her. It got to the point where Nebula is now half machine and half herself.

The quote from Green comes from an interview he had with ComicBook.Com, in which he admitted to not knowing if Howard the Duck will be a part of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Then the actor continued to say, "The only thing I know is that it's the girls' story, it's the sisters' story, that it's Gamora and Nebula's story. So I don't know if it's a prequel, or if it comes off in the new timeline that's splintered post-the Time Heist. Honestly, I don't know anything about it." Right now, fans should take this with a grain of salt, as this is not a confirmation by any means. Keep in mind if his character isn't involved, then there shouldn't be a way he would know too much about the script, which is what he admitted. There's also the possibility that this may be a previous version of the final script.

Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Vol-2

A film following the two sisters is definitely a long-overdue moment. In a world where Thanos is no longer a threat, the two sisters now have nothing standing in between them. Nebula's resentment towards Gamora came from an honest place. Gamora turning her back on her sister by winning every sparring session, which caused Nebula to be punished by Thanos, would understandably result in resentment on the part of Nebula.

What If? episode 2 showed what Nebula looked like prior to Thanos' experiments. The episode was called "What If... T'Challa Became a Star-Lord?," and the hilarious aspect of it was that it made the galaxy a much better place than the world where Peter Quill was Star-Lord. However, the reason Nebula was no longer a cyborg was because T'Challa managed to talk Thanos out of his quest for the Infinity Stones to eradicate half of the population in the universe. Since Thanos gave up the quest, he had no need for two assassins, so Nebula never had to be transformed and Thanos never went to Gamora's planet to take over or kidnap her.

That aspect of Nebula's character was teased in the films, but fans never got a chance to see her prior to being a cyborg in the main MCU live-action timeline. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the perfect opportunity to explore her character more and flesh out that long-awaited conversation between the two sisters, especially since they're now from two different timelines.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on May 5, 2023.
