Today, the video game developer Telltale Games has released the first full trailer for the forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, hinting at an adventure that makes a departure from the film franchise. Not to mention, the footage reconfirms the first of five episodes' release date of April 18, 2017.

As seen in the trailer below, Telltale Games gives fans of the Marvel comic book their first look at the Guardians in action, with Star-Lord (Scott Porter, Friday Night Lights), Gamora (Emily O'Brien, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor), Rocket Raccoon (Nolan North, the Uncharted series), Drax (Brandon Paul Eells, Watch Dogs), and Groot (Adam Harrington, The Wolf Among Us) interacting with one another in a typical quip-filled fashion they set out to cross paths with Thanos. Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series' first episode, "Tangled Up in Blue," starts things off with the group finding "an artifact of unspeakable power."

For those interested in picking up Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series' first episode, it will set them back $5, with subsequent episodes presumably costing the same as they release. Of course, there will be a $30 physical disc version available starting on May 2 in North America that will offer access to first episode and the further four as they're released.

While the first full trailer provides a great insight into Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series' art style and fun dialogue, there may be fans who wish to have some additional context to support the footage. Should that be the case, Telltale Games has previously released several screenshots of the characters exploring the cosmos, tinkering with weaponry, and even tangling with Thanos himself.

Although the developer has only confirmed the release of Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Android and iOS devices, it doesn't necessarily mean that it won't make the leap to other platforms. As it happens, a couple of weeks ago, product listings from several different retailers have indicated that Telltale’s adaptations of Guardians of the Galaxy could eventually make their way to the Nintendo Switch. However, since the studio has yet to speak up about the issue, only time will tell if a Switch port will become an actuality.

Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series' first episode, "Tangled Up in Blue," is set to release on April 18, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Android and iOS devices.
