Telltale Games debuts a teaser trailer and a few details at The Game Awards 2016 for its upcoming game based in the Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy universe.

Last month, a listing for a Guardians of the Galaxy video game was outed by the SAG-AFTRA strike where many video game voice actors ceased work on video games in development. Doing some research and backtracking, it was discovered that Telltale Games were behind a game called Guardians of the Galaxy: The Video Game codenamed "Blue Harvest".

Tonight at The Game Awards, the game was officially revealed as Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy - The Telltale Series. There wasn't much to the reveal trailer, just a shot of Star Lord's telltale (pun intended) cassette player floating through space to then cut to the official title with "Dancing in the Moonlight" by King Harvest playing.

Here's the official teaser from Telltale Games:

Very little is known about Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, but it's just another superhero license that Telltale has secured to make into one of its signature narrative games. This further confirms a report from two years ago that Telltale and Marvel are working together on a console game.

Much like Telltale's other games, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy will be a five-part episodic series. It will release on consoles, PC, and mobile devices. A launch date has yet to be revealed, but those looking forward to the game can find out more at the official site.

Speaking of Telltale Games' other superhero and comic book games, the fourth episode of Telltale's Batman series launched at the end of November and The Walking Dead Season 3 will premiere at the end of December.

Telltale is a busy developer, making partnerships with franchises in what feels like a pretty consistent rate. Fresh off the rumors and this confirmation of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, the latest speculation is that Telltale may be eyeing a partnership with USA show Mr. Robot next.

Besides the appearance of the Guardians of the Galaxy characters in Disney Infinity and a mobile game tie-in, this Telltale series will be the first release of a game dedicated completely to the Marvel franchise.

This teaser trailer was one announcement among many debuts and world premieres from The Game Awards show, including a new trailer for Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy - A Telltale Series is listed as coming soon.
