Following Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series' debut during The Game Awards 2016 with an all-too-brief reveal trailer, the developers behind the forthcoming episodic graphic adventure video game inspired by the comic book have now officially revealed the title's first batch of screenshots today. Although they don't offer much in the way of story details, the images depict the Guardians in various scenarios as they don the signature Telltale Games art style.

As seen in the tweet from Telltale Games below, the handful of screenshots offer a look at the the Guardians' leader Peter Quill (AKA Star-Lord) exploring space alongside his team member Drax and investigating what appears to be the site of a space ship crash with the help of his jet-powered boots. Another still for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series shows the whole group standing at attention, while one more has the band of heroes' resident tech genius Rocket Raccoon wielding a characteristically oversized plasma cannon of some kind.

While these fresh screenshots for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series are decidedly nifty, as they offer a look at what developers have been working on since the game's unintentional announcement, the images provide little in the way of concrete evidence regarding the title's plot, much less when it's set to be released to the public. As it stands, Telltale has yet to unveil an official release date aside from a soft launch window of spring, and with the film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 set for its theatrical debut in May, it's likely that the developer will launch the game sometime before then.

Interestingly enough, Telltale Games' forthcoming game inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy won't be the only title to feature the space-faring super heroes, as Eidos Montreal – the studio behind 2016's Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – has reportedly been developing a release for the characters all its own. However, the company has yet to openly confirm production on the title as of yet.

Taking all of this into consideration, fans will surely learn more about Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series soon enough, as the team behind the game plans on premiering it before the year's out. So, hopefully we will see the first of five episodes for the game come out before the aforementioned movie's release, but then again, it could be much later than that, as the studio may revise the release date in order to avoid major issues at launch like Batman: The Telltale Series did.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with a release window for sometime in spring 2017.
