Adam Warlock has encountered a great cosmic journey. Beginning as “Him,” to his rebirth, and then to his person. The character has a great history just waiting to be explored. However, with the character’s fate teased in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, fans may be anticipating a rather different Adam Warlock.

7 Created By The Enclave

A group of researchers that referred to themselves as nothing but “The Enclave” sought the goal of creating the perfect human being. They saw their creation as the pinnacle of future human evolution. However, what they created was already their superior, and “Him” injured his creators and escaped, to not indulge in their evil schemes. The only character that seems purer is the adorable Groot.

For the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Adam Warlock was teased to be created by Ayesha, the Golden High Priestess of the Sovereign. She holds a grudge against the Guardians of the Galaxy after Rocket Raccoon stole several Anulax Batteries. She has created the Sovereign’s greatest weapon, the cocoon which houses Adam Warlock.

6 Inner Darkness

With immense power, there are many things that Adam Warlock is capable of. One even tested his might in every fissure possibly. Adam Warlock used all of his power to stop the aftermath of the T-Bomb, which created a massive and expanding fissure in the universe known as the Fault. To stop reality from being consumed, Adam Warlock overlapped the timestreams to guarantee a future for his universe.

In doing so, Adam Warlock was left weakened, and thus consumed by the inner darkness that tormented him at every turn. This inner darkness was his true enemy, and something Adam Warlock always tried to prevent. Unleashing Adam Magnus upon the cosmos could hold deadly consequences.

5 The Soul Stone

It’s a shame that Adam Warlock was left out of the fun for Marvel’s Infinity Saga, as the character holds quite the high stakes in the comics. The infinity stones were sought out by Thanos to impress and seek affection from Lady Death. Meanwhile, the Soul Stone was in the possession of Adam Warlock.

This infinity stone was a driving force behind Adam Warlock and his many exploits. Adam Warlock used the Soul Stone to sense the souls of other beings and absorb them into the stone. This created the Soulworld, a pocket dimension inside the stone itself. Sadly, the stone is gone, reduced to atoms, thanks to Thanos.

4 Friends With Thanos

Another missing piece of the Adam Warlock puzzle is the fact that Thanos is dead in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The characters of Thanos and Adam Warlock had quite the history, especially after the Infinity Gauntlet storyline. The two became somewhat friends. Adam Warlock even saw Thanos at one point as his only friend.

Perhaps with Gamora alive from a time before the first Guardians of the Galaxy film, she will take over her now deceased father as the Mad Titan, and Adam Warlock will seek friendship with Gamora until the Guardians find them both.

3 Rise, And Rise Again

There are many reasons as to why Adam Warlock is not only feared, but respected as a powerful being. Adam Warlock is often regarded as Marvel’s cosmic Jesus Christ. There are many allegories for his character, but one of the more obvious ones is seen in his resurrection.

Adam Warlock can resurrect himself and is also known as the Avatar of Life. It is his destiny to oppose those that could be regarded as the Avatars of Death, such as Thanos and his quest to wipe out half of life, and later in madness, all of life.

2 Founding Member Of The Guardians Of The Galaxy

When Adam Warlock was revived to fulfill his role as a prophesied savior, he assisted the Kree Empire with the help of the unnamed group of misfits that consisted of Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Drax the Destroyer, Phyla, Gamora, Mantis, and Groot. This galactic-level threat required each member to succeed.

1 Wielder Of The Infinity Gauntlet

After being dead for years, readers of the Infinity Gauntlet saga would reunite with Adam Warlock, who returned from the dead to fight Thanos. In this series, Adam Warlock leads a group of Earth’s mightiest heroes in a battle against Thanos, to claim victory over the Mad Titan.

Adam Warlock manages to wield the infinity gauntlet and transforms himself into a god. From here, he undoes the damage caused by Thanos and his power from the gauntlet and ends the destructive conflict once and for all.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to release in theaters on May 5, 2023.
