GTFO developer 10 Chambers Collective has announced that the game will be receiving its fifth content update soon. It also promises that this update will be the biggest one GTFO has received so far.

GTFO is a hardcore 4-player co-op survival horror game that sees players taking control of prisoners that are sent down into the Complex, a sprawling industrial space that has been overrun by zombie monstrosities. Developed by the mind behind Payday, Simon ViklundGTFO is fraught with tense situations that require precise coordination, careful stealth approaches, and stringent resource management by players if they want to survive even the easiest missions.

The Rundown #5 update, also called Rebirth, takes GFTO players to the lowest part of the Complex yet, known as the Floodways. There are quick glimpses in the trailer, but they can be hard to pick out with how fast and dark everything is, but the new level looks to bring a new aesthetic to the game. The floodways have started being reclaimed by nature, causing massive plants to sprout throughout its industrial interior. The developers have also promised that the update will expand GTFO's lore, and will answer player's questions as to why they are trapped in the Complex.

The Rebirth update will also introduce a new booster system to GTFO. Boosters are rewarded in-game, but it is not exactly clear how players can expect to earn them just yet. They will, however, be able to be used to give players a temporary stat boost. They will raise things like a player's stamina or weapon handling to reduce the player's recoil. Whether they will last for an entire mission or just a brief amount of time within a mission is also not clear, but their addition should help add some variety to players' builds throughout GTFO and could lead to more interesting group builds for the co-op horror title.

GTFO players will not have to wait long for the update, as it is set to release on April 29, and it looks as though it will be a great addition to GTFO's slate of available levels. For any players interested, GTFO is still in early access, and while early access has worked well for many games like Baldur's Gate 3, there is also a lot of features that the developers are still working on like better matchmaking support, gear progression, and character customization. However, if the tension-filled action of GTFO looks enticing, the Rebirth update is a great time to jump in and give it a shot.

GTFO is available now on PC.
