Rockstar Games continues to show off the graphical improvements made with the upcoming release of the original trilogy of Grand Theft Auto titles. The company just recently shared a video comparing Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition and the original games to highlight the differences.

The comparisons between the original Grand Theft Auto trilogy and the upcoming Definitive Edition are noticeable in a recent IGN YouTube video. The most obvious difference between the original titles and the remastered version is the removal of fog effects. GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas all featured this fog that limited how much of the world was visible, but the upcoming Definitive Editions of each game will lift this veil to show off as much of the different cities as possible.

Similar to the removal of view distance fog, the performance of the games is also noticeably improved compared to the older versions. During the comparison video, it becomes obvious that each game has some level of motion blur that affects the main characters as players move them through their respective cities. Although some fans may be upset that some classic GTA Trilogy songs aren't returning to the radio, this blurring effect that surrounds the GTA characters as they move will be a beneficial change.

Rockstar Games' comparison video between the original titles and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition shows changes made to GTA 3, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas alike. Although GTA 3 is the oldest title in the collection, all of them look and perform equally as well based on the comparison video footage. This video gives GTA fans who remain critical of the remastered collection an idea of why Rockstar Games finally felt it was necessary to revisit Liberty City, San Andreas, and Vice City.

Not only are GTA characters more easily seen in the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition comparison video, but they're also far less blocky than they initially were. The vibrant Vice City sunsets are far more colorful, the street art of Liberty City is more visible, and the vegetation of San Andreas is lusher than ever before. The visual upgrades shown off in Rockstar Games' comparison video illustrate the changes made to both the gameplay and cinematic portions of the GTA Trilogy.

When Rockstar Games initially confirmed the widely rumored GTA Trilogy remastered collection, the developers confirmed improvements to character models, vehicle models, shadows and lighting, weather, controls, and more. Although GTA fans had an idea of what to expect from the GTA Trilogy trailer, the comparison video shows just how much Rockstar Games has improved the visuals and performance of the games through remastering them.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition releases on November 11 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
