Rockstar Games is set to release Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition on November 11, bringing the classic PS2-era Grand Theft Auto games to a Nintendo console for the first time ever. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition will be available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms as well, but it seems that the Nintendo Switch version will include some exclusive features.

Instead of simply creating a handheld version of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, the Switch port actually has exclusive features that take advantage of the hardware's unique capabilities. According to Rockstar Games, the GTA Trilogy Switch version includes optional gyro aiming controls as well as the Grand Theft Auto 5-style control scheme available in other versions of the game.

Not only that, but the GTA Trilogy Switch port also has motion control support. Those playing Grand Theft Auto Trilogy on the Nintendo Switch will be able to use the touch screen to zoom in with the camera and make menu selections, if they so desire. Again, these are extra features on top of what's available on other platforms, and it's not even including the ability to play Grand Theft Auto Trilogy on the go.

The Nintendo Switch version of Grand Theft Auto Trilogy will include the other enhancements coming with the game, of course. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition has GTA 5-style controls, improved aiming mechanics, updated weapon and radio station wheels, an updated mini-map, and more. It's unclear if the Nintendo Switch version will have built-in achievements, (Rockstar updated the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy achievement and trophy lists), as the Switch console itself doesn't have an achievement system of any kind.

It remains to be seen exactly how the Switch version of Grand Theft Auto Trilogy stacks up to the PC, PlayStation, and Xbox versions in terms of performance, but fans won't have to wait long to find out. The Grand Theft Auto Trilogy release date is November 11 on digital storefronts, with the game's physical release set to follow on December 7.

So far, reaction to the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy improvements have been mostly positive, a stark contrast to how fans reacted to the next-gen GTA 5 footage that dropped recently. That game isn't due out until March 2022, so hopefully Grand Theft Auto Trilogy is enough to tide fans over until then.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition launches November 11 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X with mobile versions also in development.
