The launch of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition has been a very interesting one, with Rockstar Games receiving huge fan and critic backlash due to the poor quality of the remastered classic PS2-era games. There have been many issues during the launch of the game, including the game being removed from PC, as well as performance issues on platforms such as the Nintendo Switch.

Despite being a remaster, which is meant to bring the classic titles into the modern age, the quality has been disappointing, with many mods of the original games offering a higher quality GTA experience for free. There was an early lack of interest from modders to help fix the game due to recent DMCA takedowns by Take-Two Interactive of mods of the original titles, but now it looks like modders are beginning to improve the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition.

In a post by u/Sowa_95 on Reddit, an image shows the early work that modders have already done on Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition, which has improved the rainfall in the game. Normally, the rain falls in a straight line and looks very amateurish, and often looks worse than the original games. There is also an issue where the rain will ignore bridges and it will continue to rain underneath them.

The first look at the mod shows the rain looking much more realistic, which drastically improves the visual quality of the game. Over the years the modding community managed to take the classic trilogy that was released between 2001 and 2004 and deliver very high-quality visuals that hold up well today, so it will be very exciting to see what the community does with this latest entry. Unfortunately, these mods will only become available for the PC version of the game, meaning that console players will have no way to improve the quality of the game, outside of the patches and updates that Rockstar Games will release.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition has been plagued with issues since launch, including the game being removed on PC due to files being unintentionally left in, as well as many performance and visual issues. Fans have also been left disappointed by cut content, including some popular cheats and iconic songs from the soundtrack being removed from the game.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
