There's been a considerable amount of backlash from the community, aimed squarely at the developer and publisher of the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition, since it came out recently. It's already being compared to the likes of Cyberpunk 2077's disastrous launch, though it's perhaps not as broken as the CD Projekt Red sci-fi RPG was when it was launched last year. Fortunately, it looks like Rockstar may be on the case, as a recent update has just gone live, with the patch notes listing a number of issues that the hotfix hopes to address.

A recent post on the developer's website shows that the Grand Theft Auto remaster is having a patch rolled out, with a whole host of fixes which could rectify some of the near-countless issues that players have been reporting since day one. As well as some general improvements to the overall trilogy, there is a list of fixes that pertain to each individual game as well. Suffice it to say, the word "fixed" appears multiple times in the patch notes.

The amount of things that have been tweaked suggests that the studio is taking the complaints seriously. One of the issues that many have been outspoken about is the updated character models. The update will seemingly fix some of the issues with them, such as animation during cut scenes, though it doesn't suggest it will fix how they look. Perhaps one of the most notorious problems that have been causing almost literal headaches among the communities is GTA Trilogy's atrocious rain effects. Update 1.02 seems to fix that, at least in San Andreas. What the fix pertains to it doesn't say, but it will hopefully make it look better than how it currently looks.

While this official patch from Rockstar aims to put right some of the problems that have been plaguing the fan base for the better part of a week, it's not just the studio or publisher that has been working to make the game better. Fans have already re-added the fog to San Andreas, with many previously showing concern that the removal of the draw distance meant players could see the entire game map from above, which, for some, completely destroyed the immersion, especially when compared to the original game.

The 1.02 patch is definitely a step in the right direction, but it may take some doing to appease the fan base. Luckily, Rockstar has apologized for the shaky release of the GTA Trilogy and has said it will reinstate the originals. Being able to download and the play the classic PS2-era titles will be good news, especially for those who have been burned by the remaster, or have seen enough of the complaints to be put off paying for it all-together.
