Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Definitive Edition features a total of 35 trophies, and while many are quite easy to earn, that is not the case with absolutely all of them. For instance, the Hoopin’ it Up achievement requires players to score at least 30 points in the basketball mini-game, and that is certainly no small feat. That said, there is a trick that can make scoring baskets in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas slightly easier, and this guide details how to execute it.

GTA: San Andreas - How to Score at Least 30 Points in the Basketball Mini-Game

The first step toward unlocking the Hoopin’ it Up trophy is to locate the relevant basketball mini-game. This mini-game manifests as a basketball court at the southeast corner of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas’s map, in Playa del Seville, and its precise position is showcased in the video that is below. Upon arrival at this location, players should pickup the basketball that is on the ground on the west side of the court and start Challenge Mode.

With Challenge Mode initiated, fans will now need to shoot from the marked positions that appear across the court, and this where the aforementioned trick may prove to be helpful. Quite simply, players should aim to release the shoot button (right trigger) just after the character starts his jump animation. Indeed, nailing this timing is key to earning this GTA: San Andreas Definitive Edition achievement, as it greatly improves the shot accuracy.

To note, Grand Theft Auto fans do not need to hit absolutely every shot that they take in order to earn this trophy, as the additional time that is granted by making baskets provides some amount of wiggle room. Even still, the mini-game’s timer can be punishing, and fans should do their best to miss only a few shots. While it may take a number of attempts for players to be capable of pulling that off, those that are persistent should be able to walk away with the achievement.

Once a fan does ultimately reach the requisite 30 points in the basketball mini-game, they can cancel Challenge Mode to see their brand new trophy pop. From there, players can get back to working on the game’s campaign or focus on some of its other achievements. Alternatively, fans can activate some GTA: San Andreas Definitive Edition’s cheats and see just how much chaos they can create.
