Grand Theft Auto Online is a genuinely massive experience, as it's full of interesting features that allow players to play out their crime boss fantasies. Yet as robust as Grand Theft Auto Online is, and as consistent as the updates that add more content of substance are, one aspect of the game has drawn some surprising criticism lately. Grand Theft Auto Online players have been questioning why Rockstar has been withholding housing options.

Two key posts on Reddit were recently received a staggering amount of upvotes from Grand Theft Auto Online players regarding housing options in the online multiplayer game. The first post received 14.4 thousand upvotes and dealt with a certain type of housing players couldn't buy. The second post received over 2.5 thousand upvotes and focused on specific areas of Los Santos in Grand Theft Auto Online where players aren't able to purchase housing. Both posts are filled with comments agreeing that there's really no reason Rockstar hasn't added such content yet.

The post that received 14.4 thousand upvotes specifically called out Rockstar for not allowing players to buy mansions in Grand Theft Auto Online. The top comment says they would love to have a mansion with a helicopter pad, a boat dock, as well as a six-car garage. On the interior, they could have places to show off their weapons, as well as a heist room. Others note that custom interiors is probably too much to ask, but the lack of high-end properties with extra features seems like a major oversight on Rockstar's part.

The second post, with only 2.5 thousand upvotes, points to several key areas of the Grand Theft Auto Online map where no houses are available. The four locations they point to are Mirror Park with its lake/pond, Del Perro beach, Chumash beach, and Vespucci Canals. All four areas are representative of the wealthier areas of Grand Theft Auto Online's map, so it ties into the lack of mansions available to purchase, too.

There's obviously plenty of expensive, high-end content for Grand Theft Auto Online players to work towards acquiring in-game already. Whether it's the $10 million Buckingham Luxor Deluxe, the $8 million Aquarius Yacht, or the $5.7 million Imponte Ruiner, players can work towards purchasing a lot of fun content. That could also explain why mansions aren't available. Rockstar may want players to spend their cash on content that's playable and can be fully experienced in multiplayer.

While Rockstar hasn't released or announced any mansions, whether they're on the beach or an inland body of water, players shouldn't give up hope. Grand Theft Auto Online continues to receive major updates, so hopefully it is just a matter of time before mansions are added to the game.

Grand Theft Auto Online is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions launching November 11.
