Grand Theft Auto Online recently re-introduced the peyote plant, which allows players to turn into a random animal for the duration of their character's life. However, the addition doesn't seem to be going quite as planned, as players have noticed that transforming seems to robs players of a specific weapon.

Grand Theft Auto Online is approaching its seventh year now, but still shows no signs of slowing down. While fans eagerly await news of Grand Theft Auto 6, GTA Online is still heavily populated and regularly sees bonuses from its developers, like free GTA cash.

The peyote plant was added back into the game just days ago, after initially having a stint last October for the game's 2019 Halloween celebration. Reddit user and GTA Online player MutsumiHayase, however, noticed an unwanted side effect of taking a dose of peyote now. After completing their stint as a peyote animal, they checked their inventory and noticed that their Navy Revolver had vanished. The player also noted that any alien weapons that have been unlocked by hackers also seem to vanish upon peyote use.

At this time, it's unclear why this glitch is occurring, and it's a particularly nasty one. Players have to spend in-game cash or complete specific missions to unlock weapons, and the Navy Revolver is no different. To unlock it, players need to finish the Los Santos Slasher mystery, which requires hunting all over the GTA Online map, and finally defeating the slasher himself and taking the weapon.

Although this is likely to be a problem for most players, some noted that it could be a blessing in disguise. The Navy Revolver has a glitch that makes it impossible to unequip. For players stuck lugging the Navy Revolver around wherever they go, it might be a relief to have it finally out of their inventories.

It's not entirely clear at this time whether or not Rockstar Games is aware of the glitch, but it's likely to be patched in the near future. Perhaps the developer will also consider extending the time peyote hangs around on the map, as players who own the Navy Revolver may want to avoid using it until the glitch is fixed.

GTA Online is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
