Rockstar Entertainment has confirmed the brand new Cayo Perico Heist coming to Grand Theft Auto Online on December 15th. Rockstar teased the new heist with a cryptic video message yesterday titled "El Rubio Dossier," which revealed an island and an unidentified dead body washed to the shores of Los Santos from the island.

Along with the cryptic video message, dead bodies with briefcases were actually washing to Los Santos shore in Grand Theft Auto Online each real hour of the day. Now a day later, more information about the new island has shed some light on the mysterious dead bodies. The Cayo Perico Heist will task players to infiltrate a private island owned by the world's most notorious drug dealer.

The Cayo Perico Heist will be the biggest heist yet, and for the first time, players will be able to take on the heist solo, thanks to a new approach to the heist design. It will be completely up to players whether to take a stealthy approach to sneak past armed guards, or breach the island with as much firepower as possible. Players must gather important evidence, but can also collect art, gold, and drug money for a big payout.

One of the most difficult aspects of heists in GTA Online is assembling a quality crew. Heists are difficult enough, but finding a crew and making sure everybody knows the roles and how to complete it can be an absolute pain. The Cayo Perico Heist will allow players to jump right into the action without having to wait for a crew.

There will also be a special location found in the ocean around the private island. A very heavily-armed submarine HQ will provide plenty of surprises for players and will most likely be included in part of the heist, but will definitely be an explorable location off the island. Like previous GTA Online heists,  players can plan their tools, heist members, and approach, so the Cayo Perico Heist will surely have many different scenarios players can run into, especially if they choose to go solo.

When Rockstar teased the update, many fans had negative reactions due to the announcement not being about Grand Theft Auto 6. However, now that more information about the heist and update have been revealed, fans may be impressed with the amount of content that will come to Grand Theft Auto Online in less than a month.

Grand Theft Auto Online is out now for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
