Rockstar Games announces free holiday content as part of Grand Theft Auto Online's Festive Surprise update running for a limited time only. Nearly 10 years later, Grand Theft Auto 5 and its online counterpart remain an outrageously popular game. In fact, GTA Online continues to reel players in thanks to frequent updates both through new content, bug fixes, as well as seasonal events which ensure that players always have something to do inside the city sandbox. With the holiday season finally here, Rockstar has once again added a bit of winter to the sunny skies of Los Santos with the limited time event Festive Surprise. Naturally, this update sees snow falling in Los Santos along with 25 Snowmen that can be destroyed in exchange for money and a special outfit. Players should also watch out for an NPC character known as The Gooch, who lurks in the shadows in an attempt to rob unsuspecting players, though fighting it off earns more money and a unique Gooch mask. Bank robbers have gotten into a shootout with an LSPD helicopter and players can take part to not only relieve the thieves of their cash, but can also earn a new weapon as thanks for their vigilante heroics as well as a Season's Greetings weapon skin that can be applied to the Pistol Mk II at any Weapons Workshop.

Rockstar is also giving GTA Online players some freebies this holiday season as well. For simply logging into the game over the next week, players can earn a bundle of items including a Candy Cane, which appears to be big enough to be some sort of melee weapon. Rockstar also mentions that other supplies and accessories will be gifted as well, but no specific details were provided.

While the festive content as well as bonuses to playlists like Races, Acid Lab, and Beast vs Slasher will likely be appreciated by players, most fans remain fixated on Rockstar's next title, Grand Theft Auto 6. Fans continue to dig for any potential news they can, even going as far as digging through a recent Rockstar teaser trailer. However, some fans believe they've come across potential GTA 6 location through a description in an unreleased GTA Online item called the Downtown Cab Co. Revere Collar. It's possible this theory is nothing more than wishful thinking, but either way, Rockstar isn't likely going to confirm anything at this point.

GTA Online is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
