Rockstar Games releases the GTA Online Festive Surprise 2015 which features Santa outfits, Christmas masks, and new Adversary Modes to get people in the festive mood.

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year for gamers and not just for all of the deals and discounts or the new games that Santa will leave in stockings. In the festive spirit, developers often host holiday events for example The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's holiday mod contest which gives one lucky fan the chance to win a one of a kind sword.

After spreading Christmas cheer previously with the 'Festive Surprise 2014' and 2013's holiday gifts, Rockstar Games is again getting involved in the tradition having now released the GTA Online Festive Surprise 2015 content update.

Available now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One (Rockstar has ended support for last-gen consoles) until January 5, one of the main features of the Festive Surprise 2015 is its "collection of free seasonally appropriate clothes and accessories". GTA Online players are now able to pick up a variety of Christmas threads such as new Santa outfits and"snug" pyjamas, along with some new masks (e.g Mr. and Mrs. Claus, Bad Elf, Crazy Gingerbread and Festive Luchador). "All festive attires from years past" will be in the game too, including the snowman mask, the reindeer antlers and elf jackets/shoes from 2013 holiday gift pack.

But that's not the only way GTA Online will be adopting a Christmas aesthetic as Christmas trees will feature in all apartments, stilt houses and yachts. Not only that but three new "Christmas themed" car horns are also available, which should go along nicely with the recent customization features introduces with GTA Online's lowriders update.

The GTA Online Festive Surprise 2015 isn't just about looking the festive part though as Rockstar Games has also introduces several new gameplay features. In the "rare" occasion that Los Santos experiences snowfall, Rockstar says that players will be able to have snowball fights. There are also some "special additions" to the existing roster of Adversary Modes, though Rockstar doesn't detail them in their announcement post.

Offering something for players who want to look good while they're causing mayhem and those who just want more things to do, few would disagree with the content included in the update. However, one key concern is whether there will be a repeat of last year's issues as following the notorious outages of Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, Rockstar was forced to extend the festivities. Once again, the online multiplayer services have been threatened though whether that will come to fruition has yet to be seen.
