Rockstar reveals a new set of fun festive features for GTA Online, including a new Adversary Mode named Juggernaut, a new snow-based weather event, and plenty of gifts.

Even though many eyes are now turned towards the newly-announced Red Dead Redemption 2, this doesn’t mean that Rockstar has given up on its other titles. After all, Grand Theft Auto 5‘s multiplayer component GTA Online is still proving to be incredibly popular with players, so there’s clearly life in the game yet. As a matter of fact, the game has received a new update today.

The news of this GTA Online update comes courtesy of Rockstar Games, which shared the various extras available in the game in a blog post. Although some of the additional content is decidedly festive in nature, perhaps the most interesting part of this new update is the addition of a new Adversary Mode, named Juggernaut.

Juggernaut mode pits two teams against one another, with one player from each team taking on the role of the Juggernaut itself. Players will need to take down the other team’s Juggernaut to win the game, but this is easier said than done given the Juggernaut’s heavy armor and weaponry. Should neither team take down their opponent’s Juggernaut in time, then Sudden Death rules take over, with every player transforming into a Juggernaut and the first kill taking the game.

Alongside this new Adversary Mode, there is also some holiday-themed fun in the offerings for the game’s users. As hinted at by some leaked information last week, holiday content is available for GTA Online players looking to get into the festive mood. On Christmas Day itself, everyone who logs into GTA Online will be given a Unicorn Mask as well as a set of pajamas, be they in White Graphic or Blue Check, and some more practical gifts such as armor or weapons. Meanwhile, on the 23rd, 24th, and 26th December, players will also be awarded a Fireworks Launcher with 10 fireworks.

It’s not only fun items that players are treated to with the update, however, as snow is also coming to Los Santos and Blaine County. The snowfall is due to last “well into the evening on Monday, December 26th” according to Rockstar, meaning that players can spend a few days in the violent winter wonderland – although the developer also hinted at more snow over the New Years’ weekend too. Much like last year’s Christmas event, players can have snowball fights, collecting up to nine snowballs to throw at other players.

Just how long GTA Online will be on the receiving end of updates and DLC remains to be seen, but it’s fair to say that players have got their money’s worth out of the game mode. Even though publisher Take-Two has suggested that one day it will look to give the online component a rest, content has been coming well into 2016, as shown by the Import/Export expansion. Without a doubt, GTA Online will be a game mode that will last long in the memory.
