Grand Theft Auto Online is receiving a major update focused on bringing new content for the various criminal organizations operated by players. GTA Online's Bikers, Executives, Gunrunners, and Nightclub Owners will each have new business prospects to pursue as Southern San Andreas faces a heatwave and economic crisis.

Grand Theft Auto 5 originally launched in September 2013 with GTA Online following later that October. In the nearly nine years since hitting shelves, the latest installment in Rockstar Games' megahit open-world franchise has gone through three console generations while continuing to be updated with new content on a regular basis. Similar to Rockstar's Red Dead Online, GTA Online was recently released as a standalone title at a reduced price compared to the full game. Rockstar is treating GTA Online as a live-service title, which means major updates and content drops are always on the horizon for the game's sizable player base.

The upcoming update, The Criminal Enterprises, might hit a little close to home for residents of the West Coast with Southern San Andreas suffering escalating gas prices and a vicious heatwave. GTA Online's criminal organizations will enjoy new opportunities for profit and mayhem as the various enterprises compete to harness the region's dwindling supplies. Executives will have new daily Special Cargo delivery side gigs while Bikers can modify custom bikes for clients to earn a profit. Gunrunners will have new Resupply Missions to rob targets and GTA Online's Nightclub Owners gain Club Management missions to help promote the club along with the ability to eject troublemakers from the premises.

The update also introduces Operation Papertrail, a one-to-four-player mission where players work with IAA as sworn-in agents to investigate a prominent family of petrochemical magnates. Several new vehicles are coming to GTA Online, including two Imani Tech-eligible vehicles which can use special upgrades such as remote control and a missile lock-on jammer. New high-performance Tuners vehicles are also on the way while customization options are being expanded for a range of existing vehicles. The new vehicles will also be accompanied by increased payouts for Race and Adversary Modes, Heists, and Doomsday Heists.

Highly requested experience improvements are coming with the update intended to make leveling up and making money in GTA Online a smoother process. With increased payouts across the board, new modes, vehicles, collectibles, special events, and a showroom floor where players can test drive new vehicles, the Criminal Enterprises update is shaping up to be a great opportunity for newer players to hop in and build their criminal careers. The Criminal Enterprises comes to GTA Online on July 26.

Grand Theft Auto Online is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
