For months, rumors have been swirling about the next project from Rockstar Games. Supposed "leaks" have claimed to reveal all sorts of information about Rockstar's next game, with some claiming it's Bully 2, others saying it's Grand Theft Auto 6, and others still saying it's a brand new medieval IP. When it comes to the GTA 6 leaks and rumors, there have been some common claims between them, with multiple "leaks" saying that the game will take place over the course of decades, and a new Rockstar Games job listing may lend more credibility to those claims.
Rockstar Games is hiring for a Character Costume and Wardrobe Stylist, and the studio is "looking for someone with a deep appreciation of the history and cultural importance which clothing plays in society; from past eras to modern, global street styles, and trends." If Grand Theft Auto 6 is set in multiple decades and cities as rumored, it would make sense for the game to feature a wide variety of clothing from different eras.
But while some have taken this as a confirmation that some of the Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks are accurate, it should be pointed out that Rockstar's games tend to take place in different time periods. Grand Theft Auto 5 is set in the modern day, Vice City is set in the 80s, and Red Dead Redemption 2 is set in 1899. Considering this, it's possible that Rockstar is hiring a Character Costume and Wardrobe stylist to work on its games in a general sense, as opposed to applying their knowledge of clothing throughout history on a single, specific product.
However, if the rumors are true about Grand Theft Auto 6 being set in multiple decades, then it could mean some of the other rumors about the game are true as well. The same leak that claimed Grand Theft Auto 6 would be set in multiple time periods also said that the game would start in the 1970s, with players taking on the role of a half-white/half-Hispanic drug dealer living in Liberty City. During this portion of the games, players would be smuggling cocaine between Liberty City and Vice City, though their actions would eventually see them wind up in prison.
By the time Grand Theft Auto 6 players exit the prison, it will be the 1980s, with an Epilogue set in the present day. The Grand Theft Auto 6 online mode will reportedly be set in the 80s.
We must stress that none of this has been confirmed by Rockstar Games, and it's possible that fans are just connecting dots that aren't really there. Until Rockstar reveals its next project itself, fans should take any news with a grain of salt.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
