A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with the Uber and Rockstar Games hacks, the latter of which resulted in the massive Grand Theft Auto 6 leak from this past weekend. Last weekend, the first-ever footage of Grand Theft Auto 6 hit the web thanks to an anonymous hacker, who shared over 90 videos of the game in early development. Reports varied on what all the hacker obtained, with some going as far as to say that they had acquired the source codes for both Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto 6.

The situation quickly became messy beyond the fact that Grand Theft Auto 6 footage spread across the Internet like wildfire. One individual was scammed out of $100,000 trying to buy GTA 5 source code by someone pretending to be the hacker, with others taking to social media pretending to be the person behind the cyberattacks to make ransom demands. Rockstar Games responded to the situation a day later, expressing its disappointment about the leak but stating that it would not impact development of Grand Theft Auto 6.

Now a 17-year-old has been arrested in Oxfordshire, UK. According to reports, the arrest came out as a collaboration between UK's National Cyber Crime Unit and the FBI. Former Reuters journalist Matthew Keys has said that police and the FBI will likely be giving a statement on the arrest at some point later today.

Whenever official statements come, it's possible that the GTA 6 hacker will remain unidentified because of their status as a minor. A hack and leak of this magnitude will still certainly result in severe legal consequences regardless, though. What those consequences will be remains to be seen, but more information on the situation and potential charges should come to light once the FBI releases its statement later today.

The Grand Theft Auto 6 hack confirmed many details about the game that were previously leaked by industry insiders. For example, it's been said for quite some time that Grand Theft Auto 6 will have two protagonists, one male and one female, and that was backed up by the leaked videos. It was also leaked long ago that Grand Theft Auto 6 would be set in Miami-based Vice City, which is another detail that was corroborated by the leak.

It's unclear when an official Grand Theft Auto 6 reveal will take place, and if this situation has potentially delayed Rockstar's marketing plans for the game. Rockstar has claimed that Grand Theft Auto 6 development has not been impacted by the leak, but it still remains to be seen when the reveal will happen and when fans will get to play the game for themselves.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is in development.
