It's often said that money makes the world go round and this is also very true in the world of Grand Theft Auto 3. From the moment they boot up the game, players will be breaking their backs to earn money, which, among other things, they'll need for purchasing new weapons and respraying their vehicles to help keep the cops off their tail.

Given how much there is to see and do in Liberty City, however, it can sometimes be difficult to figure out the best ways to make money in Grand Theft Auto 3. Sure, there are plenty of potential methods to choose from, but some pay out much more than others, and often at a much faster rate too. These sure-fire money-making methods should hopefully help in this regard.

Complete Story Missions

Though the payouts from some of the earlier missions in Grand Theft Auto 3 are a little lackluster, mission rewards become progressively larger as players make their way through the game. By the time that Claude has been introduced to Joey, he'll be earning tens of thousands of dollars for each mission that he completes and this will very quickly begin to add up.

For those looking to make some serious bank, 8-Ball's "Bomb Da Base: Act II," is worth 50 grand (well, technically 150, but players need to cough up $100,000 to start the mission), while Asuka's final three missions will reward players with $120,000 between them. The biggest payout, however, comes from the game's final mission, which will reward players with a cool one million. With all this in mind, completing missions should prove to be a more than adequate source of income for most players.

Complete Vehicle Missions

Anyone looking to make some easy money while also getting better acquainted with the ins and outs of Liberty City should consider tackling some of the game's vehicle missions. As the name suggests, these are special missions that can be activated while inside certain vehicles and involve Claude working as either a taxi driver (taxi), a vigilante (police/army vehicle), a paramedic (ambulance), or a firefighter (firetruck).

For each additional fare, criminal, patient, or fire that they deal with in a single sitting, players will earn increasingly large amounts of cash. Firefighting is probably the most profitable of the four, with Claude earning $250 multiplied by the total number of fires that he's already extinguished every time that he puts another one out. This might not seem like much, but by the twentieth fire, players will have pocketed more than fifty grand. By fire 89, they'll be millionaires.

Complete Import/Export Vehicle Lists

There are quite a few side-missions in Grand Theft Auto 3, but one of the best for making money involves flipping stolen vehicles for cash. By heading to the Portland Docks, players will find the first of two Import/Export garages in Liberty City and will be able to deliver certain vehicles there in order to make a quick buck. Each vehicle delivered will reward players with $1,000 ($1,500 for emergency vehicles), but the real money comes from completing a list, which pays out a massive 200 grand.

Most of the vehicles requested have fixed spawn points and those that don't are typically quite common and so are easy to find driving around. Players will probably want to tackle the Emergency Vehicles list first as it has fewer vehicles on it than the Civilian list and thus can be completed much faster. Once they reach Shoreside Vale, they'll be able to find another Import/Export garage in Pine Creek and another list of vehicles to track down and deliver.
