People Can Fly is well known as a developer of unconventional first- and third-person shooter games. The latest and perhaps most important of these (for now) is Outriders.

It's with experience from People Can Fly that several developers set out to create their own studio: Gruby Entertainment. Although founded in 2020, progress has been somewhat slow on its first game. However, it looks like that game may be closer to the light of day now, in part thanks to the publisher that has decided to produce the as yet title-less project.

Super!com is producing Gruby Entertainment's inaugural title which, according to Gruby, will be a first person shooter. This is hardly surprising, since People Can Fly's primary experience is in shooters, usually ones with an action-heavy focus. It is not known as of this article why devs decided to leave People Can Fly to found their own studio, but it could be any number of factors. While the future of People Can Fly looks bright, the number of games the company has developed is relatively small. With more of its devs working on their passion project parallel to People Can Fly, it will hopefully mean more interesting shooters for players all the sooner.

Backing the kind of game that Gruby will most likely turn in is outside of the comfort zone of Super!com. Up until this point, Super!com's games have been relatively small scale, and are mostly action oriented isometric titles. While certainly a diverse stable of games, none of them are shooters, which means Gruby's title will be a first for Super!com. With People Can Fly potentially going back to Bulletstorm one day, it will be interesting to see how Gruby's title measures up against PCF's cult and major hits.

It will be interesting to track Gruby's progress, as any indie company with major developer talent in it is always worth a watch. People Can Fly is still worth watching too, especially with its recent acquisition of Game On earlier this month.

For multiple reasons, there has been quite a bit of developers leaving parent companies to found entirely new studios. One of the biggest exoduses has been from Blizzard, which has seen developers leaving to form Frost Giant studios. Players are advised to keep an eye on new indie studios being formed by industry veterans, as these tend to produce more fascinating new titles. There is currently no known release date for Gruby's unnamed game.
