During the Xbox Showcase Event, Obsidian Entertainment released a new trailer for its sandbox survival title Grounded. The trailer highlights gameplay features and shows off the beautiful world captured in a backyard.

The trailer is also filled with tons of laughs and pokes fun at the conversation surrounding the game. The trailer starts off with a narrator saying, "If you're waiting for the biggest game of the year, wait for CyberPunk 2077." He then goes on to say, "If you're looking for the smallest, we've got you covered." This hilarious intro sets up the trailer to highlight what Grounded is all about: Small people trapped in a big world.

Grounded puts players in the tiny shoes of a small person who must survive the perils of nature contained in a backyard. Solo or together with friends, explore the many corners of the backyard and come face to face with creatures such as spiders, ladybugs, and fire ants. The trailer shows off a little bit of combat, as players can wield makeshift bows, spears, axes and possibly more creatable tools. Characters must explore, gather and build in an always changing environment. As nature grows in the backyard, supplies become available over time and enemy insects interact and live in real-time.

The Grounded trailer also shows off an impressive build mode. One of the many objectives includes building a fort or base in order to drive off insects. Players will choose one of four characters, but the trailer suggests that there are customization options and accessories that can be equipped. Overall, the trailer matches the lighthearted story within Grounded. Players are in for a few laughs and a gorgeous environment that grows around them. Grounded will be available on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X when it fully releases.

Obsidian Entertainment also pokes fun at themselves by admitting that Grounded is not like other games the studio has developed. Obsidian Entertainment is known for RPG games such as the Outer Worlds, which also revealed a new expansion at the Xbox Showcase. Also revealed within the event was a brand new RPG title from Obsidian Entertainment called Avowed. Obsidian Entertainment has a variety of titles being worked on, but Grounded definitely stands apart in terms of theme and style

Grounded releases on July 28th for PC and Xbox One and is in development for an Xbox Series X release.
