How To Find The Whispering Mothers

The Beacon, Lower Lithic Surrogate, Electrical Barrier and Painting Area of Lithic in Grime

Find the Beacon

From the Lithic Upper Surrogate, walk straight ahead until the stone lifts are reached. There will be three Rockhead Preys to fight along the way. Dash towards the other side, past the third stone lift. Be careful of falling down, the rock paths are vulnerable.

There's an ambush waiting, but these Preys can be ignored for now. So continue walking, there's a path to descend ahead. There'll be invulnerable Rockhead Preys gathering and dancing, get down and go left. Go past the Leaper and Rockhead Preys, and keep going down. Upon reaching the bottom, go left to find the beacon.

Find the Lithic Lower Surrogate

There's a breakable wall on the left side of the beacon, which leads towards the stone lift. Ride the closest stone lift and get off upon reaching its end. Across is the path towards the Lithic Lower Surrogate. So cross the remaining two stone lifts to get to the left side. Dash through the obstacles and keep straight ahead until it's found.

Find the shortcut

Climb of the stone wall left of the Lithic Lower Surrogate. Continue walking until the only way to go is down. Keep going down until an electrical barrier is reached. Quickly cross to the other side. Fight or ignore the Preys and climb up. Continue going right, pass two Rockhead miners and get down once only. Continue walking forward and fight two Leapers along the way. Climb all the way up the stone wall and jump left, break the wall to get access to the stone lifts — check the Map to find the nearest surrogate.

Find the Whispering Mothers

With the shortcut unlocked, take the right path from the Lithic Lower Surrogate. Dash through the obstacles and ride the stone lift going downwards. Upon reaching the bottom, continue straight ahead and climb down to the middle of the stonewall — don't go all the way down — and dash to the right. The Whispering Mothers are right after the painting area.

Whispering Mothers Boss Fight: First Phase

Different Attacks of Whispering Mothers of Lithic in Grime

Upon reaching the Whispering Mothers, a Rockhead will rush to them to report about a bad Carven, which is the title of the protagonist. At the start of the boss fight, moving rocks surrounded with lava will emerge from both sides, limiting the boss area. Being alert and quick is crucial in surviving the first phase. There are four attacks the Whispering Mothers (sometimes they use the same attack, sometimes not) will use against the player, namely:

Switching Dance

The Whispering Mothers will switch places. Be careful, this attack can deal damage twice or more. There are three ways to evade this attack:

Stay on one side as they switch. There'll be a small space for the player to stay idle for a moment.

• Be in the middle of the area and jump right as they switch. Timing is the key.

Dash as the player is about to get hit.

Horizontal Rock Attack

This attack involves three rocks traveling from one side to the other. It's quick and has a wide range. It can be difficult to evade especially when the player runs out of force or is focused on attacking one of them. They must keep in mind the number of attacks they can do with their weapon while keeping a reserve for when they need to dash. Or they can simply jump, which doesn't consume any force.

The Whispering Mother using this attack will go idle during its duration, which is a great window to attack.

Floating Rocks

There are two kinds of rocks they use for this attack: Regular rock and Special rock. Sometimes they use both rocks. When using the Regular rock, they'll levitate around four or more of it and then slam it down. The Whispering Mothers can use only one Special rock each, which behaves like a missile.

The best thing about this attack is that the player can absorb these rocks and use them to attack one of the mothers. If not, the special rock can drain a huge chunk of the health bar.

Eruption Attack

An attack the Whispering Mothers can't use at the same time. The ground below the Whispering Mother will shine and rocks will erupt dealing massive damage if the player gets hit.

It has a slow recovery time. The player can do multiple attacks on the Whispering Mother right after the rocks erupt. But stay alert in doing so.

Whispering Mothers Boss Fight: Second Phase

Attacks in second phase of the Whispering Mother of Lithic in Grime

Upon draining the health bar of the Whispering Mothers in the First phase, one of them will die. Don't worry, no one will get resurrected here. The remaining Whispering Mother will be quicker and more relentless in the second phase. There are four attacks they will use against the player, namely:

Sway Attack

The Whispering Mother will scream before gently swaying towards the player. It's similar to the Switching Dance in the First phase, except it has a shorter range and deals a small amount of damage. The player can easily evade this attack with a dash.

Hand Attack

The Whispering Mother will slam their hand down or slap an open space with varying range (they can stretch their arms a bit). It's recommended for the player to use absorb during this attack, it deals great damage.

Wave Attack

An aggressive form of the Sway attack, which the remaining Whispering Mother can do twice in a row. It's a red-outline kind of attack. It cannot be countered. The player must be quick when evading it. Always reserve some force because this attack can wipe the entire health bar.

Special Rock Attack

The Whispering Mother can now use two Special Rocks in contrast to only one in the first phase. Be prepared to evade this attack by doing multiple dashes or absorbing the rocks. Sometimes it will be combined with the Wave attack, which makes it all the more deadly.
