With many people getting into the GRID series for the first time, there are some who have gotten lost along the way. Because of this, there are some beginner tips a new player needs to know before diving into GRID Legends. Keep these pieces of advice in mind before hitting the racetrack!

7 Learn About The Game Modes

There are multiple game modes for a player to choose from in GRID Legends. These game modes are Story mode, Career mode, and Social mode. While Career races can help a player improve their driving much faster, Story mode can give the player a taste of everything the game has to offer.

Social mode, meanwhile, is a multiplayer mode. Players can race against real players and their friends in real-time. A player shouldn't be afraid to switch between the game modes, as the experience isn't confined.

6 Complete Objectives To Unlock Items

A player should, of course, play through the game fully in order to unlock more parts of it. The quickest way to do this is to complete objectives - these are challenges in-game that require a player to achieve certain goals. The rewards for completing these objectives include all sorts of items being unlocked.

The kinds of items a player can unlock from complete objectives have a wide range. They can be a new race track or even a new car for a player to test out and drive. It may take a while to complete a difficult objective, though, so be patient.

5 There's No Shame In Activating Assists

Grid Legends - Speeding down the track.

Assists are used for people who are new to GRID Legends or people that aren't the best at racing games. Similar to automatic drift in Mario Kart, assists will help ease the difficulty on a player, on a scale of one to five.

There are a few assists in the game, such as making the car more stable, keeping the wheels from locking while braking, and so on. There's no shame in turning on the assists in the game if it helps a player to complete a difficult challenge. They can also ease the difficulty of the AI drivers in single-player mode, too.

4 Upgrading Teammate And Mechanic Skills Is Important

In GRID Legends, a player will have to rely on Teammate Development and Mechanic Development skills while playing the game. They are two upgradeable skill trees, which a player can access in the Team menu. A player should make sure to devote some of their money to upgrading them.

These skill trees, once upgraded, will give a player a wide variety of perks. These perks range from more money earned from races, performances, and the amount of EXP that a player gains. It is worth the investment to upgrade both of these skills equally during a playthrough.

3 Make Sure To Enter Sponsorship Events

Sponsorship Events are one of the best ways for a player to gain a large number of rewards in only a short amount of time. A sponsor will have a certain objective for a player to go through, which can be found in the Team menu and then taken on.

These sponsored races, once the player completes the objectives, will unlock many rewards for a player. This can include unique races, sponsored rewards, and all sorts of other items. A player should definitely take the time to complete any and all Sponsorship Events once they get the chance for potential rewards.

2 Customize The Controls

By default, all of the limitations that are placed on the player - all of the assists meant to ease a new player in - are turned on to the highest limitations. Though this can help ease new players in, to someone who already knows GRID Legends this can cause driving to feel a bit stiff.

On top of this, it soon becomes apparent that the keyboard controls for driving aren't exactly the best as-is. A player should take the time to customize and fiddle with the controls of the game, to make it the most comfortable for them during gameplay.

1 Tinker With The Race Creator

The Race Creator is exactly what it says on the tin - a player can create their own race to play through and tweak it all the way to their own satisfaction. It's one of the best parts of GRID Legends for quite a few people, and it's easy to see why.

Players can customize which racetrack they want, along with picking out their favorite classes for the car, along with conditions and modifiers; basically, everything that's needed to create a player's dream race is possible in the Race Creator. A player can easily tinker away to their heart's content.

GRID Legends is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows.
